Accessibility Statement
Sheffield UTC Academy Trust is committed to making this website accessible and easy to use for as many people as possible, regardless of ability or technology.
The website has been designed with accessibility in mind and aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We recognise that some areas of the website may not currently meet this standard, and that accessibility issues can arise as content is added or updated. We are committed to identifying and improving these issues as the website develops.
How we have made this website accessible
The website includes a range of features intended to make it easier to navigate, read and use. These include:
- Keyboard-accessible navigation and controls
- Visible keyboard focus indicators
- Skip links to allow keyboard users to bypass repeated content
- Semantic page structure and landmarks to support navigation with assistive technologies
- Support for resizing text up to 200%
- Support for reduced motion preferences
- Responsive layouts designed to remain usable across different screen sizes and levels of zoom
Accessibility and display preferences
The website also includes an accessibility panel in the footer and skip links of each page that allow you to adjust the appearance and behaviour to suit your individual needs. These options are provided in addition to the features built into the website and allow you to adapt the visuals to your own requirements.
You can use the accessibility panel to:
- Increase or decrease the size of text, between 75% and 200%
- Choose between light and dark colour schemes
- Increase or decrease contrast
- Reduce colour saturation or display the website in greyscale
- Reduce animation
- Emphasise links to make them easier to identify
- Use a narrower reading width for the main article body
- Increase spacing between words and letters
- Increase spacing between lines of text
- Reduce transparency
Your selected preferences are retained on your machine by your browser where this is supported.
Known accessibility limitations
We are aware that some text displayed on coloured backgrounds do not currently provide the minimum colour contrast required by WCAG 2.2 Level AA. This can affect some interface elements, including dropdowns, buttons, table headers and other components that use our brand colours. The high-contrast option in the accessibility panel can provide greater differentiation between foreground and background colours for users who require it.
We are also aware that some of the options on the accessibility panel such as narrow content width may cause glitches with some of the content on the website, but we are actively working to check and correct this behaviour.
There may also be accessibility issues within individual pages or content that have not yet been identified. Accessibility can also be affected as new content is added or existing content is updated. We continue to review the website and aim to address accessibility issues as they are identified.
Content on this website
This website is maintained by Sheffield UTC Academy Trust. We aim to make new and updated content accessible, including using appropriate heading structures, meaningful link text and text alternatives for images where required.
Some older case studies and news articles may not fully meet accessibility requirements. This may include images without appropriate text alternatives, documents such as PDFs, video content, or pages where heading structures or link descriptions could be improved.
If you require any information on this website in a different or more accessible format, please contact us using the details below.
Third-party content and services
Some parts of this website use content or services provided by third parties, including YouTube, Google Translate and online mapping services.
We aim to integrate third-party services in an accessible way, but we cannot guarantee compliance with accessibility standards for these resources.

If you have difficulty accessing any part of this website, encounter an accessibility problem or have suggestions about how we could improve accessibility, please contact us.

Reviewing and improving accessibility
Accessibility is an ongoing process. We will continue to review the website, its content and its features and aim to address accessibility issues that are identified through testing and user feedback.
