A Level Further Mathematics
A Level Further Mathematics is an exciting and challenging course for students who enjoy mathematics and want to explore the subject in greater depth. Building on the content studied in A Level Mathematics, Further Mathematics develops advanced problem-solving, logical reasoning and analytical skills through the study of more complex mathematical concepts and applications. Students will deepen their understanding of areas such as complex numbers, infinite series, differential equations and matrices, alongside further study of applied mathematics. The course is highly regarded by universities and employers and is particularly valuable for students considering degrees and careers in mathematics, engineering, physics, computing, finance and other STEM-related fields.
Assessment
Most of our students will study for the full A Level which will be assessed by 4 examinations in the summer of Y13.
Some students may wish to study for an AS in Further Maths. Based on individual needs this could be done over 1 or 2 years.
Students are internally assessed through project work/assessments. Support sessions are available to all students.
