Sports Science at Year 9 and KS4: Inspiring the Next Generation of Sporting Professionals

Are you passionate about sport, health and performance? Do you want to understand what it takes to succeed in elite sport while exploring the science that supports athletes at every level?

At UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, Sport Science gives you the opportunity to combine your interest in sport with the knowledge and skills that underpin performance, health and wellbeing. From anatomy and physiology to sports psychology, nutrition and performance analysis, you’ll explore the science behind success while working on projects inspired by industry.

The sport, health and fitness sectors continue to evolve, with advances in sports science, technology and performance analysis transforming the way athletes train, compete and recover. Through hands-on learning and employer-led experiences, you’ll develop an understanding of how the body responds to exercise, how performance can be enhanced and how health and wellbeing can be supported. Along the way, you’ll build a strong foundation for Post 16 study in Sport Science and related fields, with progression routes into university, apprenticeships and careers across sport, health, fitness and performance industries.
