Please note this A Level is studied at UTC Sheffield City Centre.
A Level Art is a creative and inspiring course designed to develop students’ skills, imagination, independence and critical understanding. Through responding to a range of themes and stimuli, learners are encouraged to explore their own interests while building a strong understanding of why Art and Design matters within society, culture and the creative industries. The course provides the freedom to experiment, take risks and develop a personal artistic style, supported by taught techniques, research and critical analysis.
Students can work across a range of disciplines including sculpture, craft, 3D modelling, mixed media, painting and photography. Alongside creating a personal portfolio, learners will study the work of both pioneering and contemporary artists, developing the ability to critically evaluate their own work and that of others within historical and contemporary contexts. The flexible nature of the course allows students to tailor their projects to their individual interests, aspirations and progression routes, providing an excellent foundation for Further Education, Higher Education and careers within the creative sector.
