Antony, Computing

Antony has completed his studies at UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park Sixth Form, where he studied a Diploma in IT alongside Computer Science A Level, and is now moving on to the RAF with the goal of becoming a pilot.

He chose UTC OLP because of the practical courses on offer, saying the hands-on projects made learning more meaningful.

Antony is particularly proud of the computer skills he has developed, especially when creating a mobile app that worked as a GPS tracker for construction sites, which he says could be used by businesses to monitor staff productivity. His favourite project was designing the Eyam game, and he also enjoyed experimenting with new technology, including Mr Parr’s R2D2 droid.

Reflecting on his time here, Antony explained: “UTC OLP helped me to figure out my next steps. The careers advice I got helped with this.” He believes the practical focus sets UTC apart from other colleges, adding: “I think UTC OLP is better than any other college as I learn by doing.”

Looking ahead, Antony says that achieving the grades he needed at UTC has allowed him to take his first step into the RAF and towards his dream career as a pilot.
