Hannah, Health
Hannah is heading to Sheffield Hallam University to study Primary Teaching, after completing her Sixth Form studies at UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, where she also studied for her GCSEs.
She says one of the biggest changes about UTC was its smaller school environment, which helped her grow in self-confidence and receive more individual support.
Originally planning to be a doctor, her career path shifted after work experience at her old primary school and opportunities through UTC, which inspired her to pursue teaching.
A highlight for Hannah was taking part in a primary teaching course at Oasis, and she remembers feeling especially proud when praised at parents’ evening for her work and told she would make a great teacher.
She credits the confidence and communication skills she developed at UTC as being valuable in all areas of her life, and says that small class sizes made learning more personal and effective.
Describing UTC in three words, she chose “motivating, compact, inspiring”, and she adds that the atmosphere is welcoming and supportive.
Looking ahead, Hannah sees herself in a primary teaching role with her degree completed within five years, continuing to build on the skills that UTC has given her.
