Oliver, Sport

Oliver is celebrating after achieving D*D*D in his Extended Diploma in Sport at UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, and he is now progressing to Birmingham University to study Sport and Exercise Health Science.

He chose UTC OLP because he wanted a direct pathway into sport at university, and he says the specialist course and facilities provided that opportunity.

Oliver is particularly proud of developing his planning and organisation skills, which he feels will benefit many aspects of his life.

A highlight of his time at UTC was his work experience at Sheffield Hallam University’s Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC), where he explored different labs, including biomechanics, and had the chance to use specialist equipment. He explained that this experience inspired him and helped shape his university choice by giving him a clear understanding of the opportunities available in sport science.

Reflecting on his studies, Oliver says he feels proud of the body of work he produced and his ability to meet deadlines consistently. He also believes UTC offers unique opportunities, adding that the OCR Cambridge Technical in Sport is highly valued by universities.

Looking ahead, Oliver hopes to continue into post-graduate education and is especially interested in researching sport in extreme environments.
