Students at UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park are celebrating a top set of academic and technical results today.

At our technical school for 13 to 19-year-olds, which is Ofsted graded ‘good’, students complete A Levels and technical qualifications in computing, health sciences and social care or sport science.

The technical qualifications are equivalent to between one and three A Levels.

For students studying a three A Level equivalent technical qualification (an extended diploma) in Sport the average grade was a distinction.

For those studying health sciences and social care the three A Level equivalent technical qualification (extended diploma) the average grade was a Merit+.

And in Computing/IT 58% of students achieved a grade between a Distinction* and Distinction Merit (A* – B equivalent).

Following their success students are now progressing to a range of top destinations including universities such as the University of Liverpool, the University of Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam University, Lancaster University and the University of Bradford.

Jessica Stevenson, Principal of UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, said: “I am extremely proud of our students. It’s wonderful to see them advancing to the next exciting chapter of their lives. The unique experience at our UTC, combining academic and technical studies with guidance from industry experts and employers, has equipped our students with valuable technical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills that will serve them well in their future careers.”

At the UTC, on Old Hall Road, students work on employer-led projects, developing skills related to their subject specialism as well as team working and problem solving.

The UTC is backed by employers who have shaped the curriculum and provide industry projects, work experience and work placements. It is one of two UTCs in the city.

Employers supporting the UTC include including the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Sheffield International Venues, Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Sheffield.
